It’s a day to let yourself go – order a third scoop of ice cream, wear a bowling shirt with someone else’s name on the pocket, let the lawn go un-mowed and the garden go un-weeded.

Fun fact: On July 14, 1789, France had its own Pandemonium Day.

Sometimes letting yourself go can go a little too far. For example, the French Revolution started with the storming of the Bastille prison in Paris and went on until 1797. It resulted in lots of new innovations, most notably the guillotine.
